Story
Youth Cancer Trust provides free peer support and activity based holidays for teenagers and young adults living with cancer. I have now been working for this amazing charity for over 4 years and continue to be inspired by the courageous young people that come and stay with us.
Last year I took part in the Isle of Wight Challenge and raised nearly £700 for Youth Cancer Trust. Unfortunately, I had to withdraw after 67km, so this year I'm back for another attempt and I'm even more determined than ever to cross that finish line!!
The challenge starts in Chale and I will be walking continuously all day and night around the perimeter of the island, until I have completed the 106km distance back to Chale.
This year I am being joined by my friends Stuart, Simon, Fran and Mark and we will be walking under the team name 'Dorset Desperados'. I'm looking forward to sharing this experience with them.
I would really love to raise enough money again this year to provide a YCT holiday for another young person. Our guests really do benefit from the opportunity to meet other young people who have been through a similar experience to them, building friendship and support networks and to take a break from cancer and enjoy being a young person.
Any donations would be really gratefully received, or you're welcome to come and join me in the challenge - quarter island / half island and full island in 2 days challenges are also available.
Thank you for your support.
Wendy xx
