There are few ex-pat Leodhasach better known in Aberdeen than Ken MacLeod, or wee Ken as he was affectionately known as.

Ken passed away in his home in Aberdeen on 3rd February 2020 at the age of 45 years.

Only a few days before that he was in the company of many of his friends at Peat & Diesels first concert in Aberdeen on 31st January 2020. Ken was in incredible form that night…..his usual scintillating self, revelling in the company of his friends, driving the humour and the conversation of the night, singing his heart out to all the songs……he was at his most vocal singing ‘Island’.

Who would have thought just a few days later we would be hearing that he had passed away. 

At the time we vowed to do something to remember Ken but then the COVID pandemic kicked in and the world changed again.

Peat and Diesel return to play Aberdeen again on 20th Nov 2021. For many of us this has rekindled memories of that evening of the 31st Jan 2020 and it has prompted us to do something for Ken.

Epilepsy Scotland is a charity that was incredibly close to Ken’s heart. It was a condition he lived with for years himself. He actively supported the charity in many ways. I guess there is a yearning in all of us to do something to express what Ken meant to us, remembering him - what better way than to raise some money for his charity?

The idea for this fundraiser came about through discussions with Ken’s brother Dave.
