Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My name is Deborah and I am the mother of baby George who has recently been diagnosed with Hemiplegia. Hemiplegia is the result of a brain injury which means George has problems using one side of his body. Hemiplegia can also cause problems such as epilepsy, challenging behaviour, fatigue and learning difficulties. Hemiplegia affects 1 in 1000 people yet there is little awareness of the condition.
Since his diagnosis, I have sought help in various places and one amazing charity is HemiHelp. They have offered support and information when I didn't know where else to go. HemiHelp is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and has an awareness week 17th -21st October. HemiHelp are encouraging people to take part in coffee mornings to raise money for them. Our coffee morning will have a little twist as coincidentally, George's 1st birthday falls during this awareness week so we will be celebrating by having friends and family, enjoying coffee, cake and making a donation instead of buying George birthday presents.
