My name is Bethan, and I have been selected to represet Girlguiding Cymru (along with only 8 other girls from across Wales) at the World Scout Jamboree 2023, in South Korea. This will be a once in a lifetime experience, where I will get to meet other people from around the world, take part in activities focused on Sustainability, STEM, adventure, culture & tradition and Safe & Secure, This event is recognised as the United Nations largest peace conference.

In order to be truly reflective of Wales, and to meet the vision of making this the most inclusive jamboree contingent in history, each participant has to raise £4500 to cover the costs. This cost includes several training events in the UK to help prepare us, appropriate clothing and equipment as well as the transport and Jamboree costs; Girlguiding also takes some of the fundraising to supports Guides from less developed nations to attend.

Girlguiding Cymru offers lots of support, but they strongly believe that raising this funding ourselves is fundamental to our education and commitment. I plan to do several fundraising activities supported by my family and local units, and the Jamboree team will help us with event.
