We've done it !!!!
Our official time - 23hours 38minutes
It was the most exciting 24hours imaginable. There was snow on Ben Nevis, we had rain and mist on Scafell Pike, and we had to climb Snowdon in complete darkness with head torches (daylight by the time we got down!).
We could not have achieved this challenge without the fantastic support from both John and Rocky from Pegasus Coach Agency Ltd. They provided the minibus and took care of all of the driving. We just crashed out in the back between the Peaks. They were definitely the most important members of the Team.
Thank you to everyone who has donated already. Please keep the donations coming in! We have already reached our target of £1,600 but would dearly love to be able to raise £2,500 for Tenovus if possible.
A group from Welsh National Opera are bravely taking on the ultimate in mountain climbing challenges in a bid to help raise over £100,000 for cancer charity Tenovus. The WNO team is made up from a cross section of departments within the Company. Team members are: Georgina Govier (Music Librarian), Sarah Teagle (WNO MAX Producer: Community Choir and Youth Opera), Donald Clist (Orchestra- Horn), Andy Cookson (Orchestra- Percussion), Ian Douglas (Company Manager) and Phil Boughton (Orchestral Manager). They will be supported on their journey by Pegasus of Cardiff who will not only be providing the coach, but also the drivers, John Newberry and Rocky. The 24-hour challenge (Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike & Snowdon) falls at an extremely busy time for the Company. The team will have to dash overnight immediately after the last Production rehearsal of Meistersinger in the Wales Millennium Centre, up to Ben Nevis for a 5.00am start the following morning. Once the 24hr challenge is completed, we will have to rush back to Cardiff for the Dress Rehearsal the following afternoon.
Our official target is £1600 but we are really hoping that with everyone’s generosity we can raise far more to help Tenovus reach their target of £100,000 from this event. Money raised will go towards their Mobile Chemotherapy Unit that is travelling around South and West Wales delivering chemotherapy to people and offering support services. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity. So please dig deep and donate now.
