As many of my friends and family already know I was born with a genetic deformity called Bilateral Hare Lip and Cleft Palate. It is a condition that can occur in as many as 1 in 700 children with more complex cases being much rarer.

When I was born, I didn't have a roof to my mouth or any structure to my top lip, this meant that from only a few days old I was in intensive care and undergoing major surgery to correct the deformity that I was born with. As a result of this I have been undergoing surgery regularly for over 19 years and will be undergoing another operation in April/May time!

 CLAPA is a charity that helps children born with Hare Lip and Cleft Palate and also helps the parents whose children are affected by it by educating them in the possible risks involved. It is a charity that is very close to my heart and I feel that raising money for them will be my way to say thank you to not only the charity, but also the team of specialists who have been responsible for my health since a very young age. 

This endeavour will show that anything is possible when you overcome the odds.
