Story
From 10 to 15 April, a team of Vitol staff will be trekking in a very remote valley in Nepal to experience first-hand the challenges faced by the communities that live there, and to raise funds for transformational development programmes in the area. With the nearest road a three-day walk away, access to healthcare and economic opportunities is limited. However, the dZi Foundation works in partnership with these communities to enable them to improve their health and nutrition, ensure access to education and increase household incomes. Following the devastating earthquake that struck the area a year ago, the focus has been on 'building back better' and increasing resilience.
The Vitol team will be made up of Lucie North, Ivana Todorovska, Charles Hotimsky, Paul Mulholland and Rebecca Brooke from the London office, James Khedari in the Cham office and Maryam Isa Abdulla and Michael Chami from the Bahrain office.
The trek will be physically very demanding (the valley is in the Everest region and we have a lot of miles to cover!) so we're ramping up our training. The team would be enormously grateful for your support, but more importantly, it will be put to towards the transformational work of the dZi Foundation in an area where a little money goes a very long way!
