Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
On 29 August 2015 a team of four cyclists from RAF Cosford, Nick Hitchman, Ronan Archbold, Phillip Morris and Susan Pugh, and support crew of Rick Cannon, Steve Whitear, Dale Watkins, Sean Evans, Gareth Bufton, Peter Beauchamp, Emma Hopkinson, Kyle Sugden & Matt Owen with support from Dassi Bikes mechanic Gary Neilson will embark on this huge challenge.
We will start in Calais then head east across France, brave Germany’s Black Forest, cross the Austrian Alps, dip our pedals into Italy, turn left into Slovenia, scale the Vrsic Pass, speed across flat northern Italy, conquer Mont Ventoux, soak up the South of France’s sunshine, cross the Pyrenees and relish Spain’s fantastic roads to finish at Europa Point in Gibraltar with amazing views across to north Africa. Our intention is to complete this nonstop within 10days!!!
As members of the armed services, we accept the challenges and consequences of our actions along with the jobs we do. Unfortunately though, as with most things in life, there are sometimes consequences to our actions, as adults we must accept these and continue. But all too frequently it is the children who suffer from the adults decisions; we are therefore raising money for Scotty's Little Soldiers.
Scotty's Little Soldiers is a charity dedicated to supporting bereaved British Forces children. The charity provides opportunities for the children to smile again by offering holidays at its Scotty Lodges, gifts at difficult times of the year, special experiences and an amazing Christmas Party. As well as these fun activities the charity also provides access to professional bereavement counselling and a range of grants to help with the children's personal development. These grants can cover the cost of music lessons, swimming clubs, after school activities, driving lessons and even University tuition fees.
The charity now supports hundreds of bereaved British Forces children across the UK, many of whom are still very young and will rely on the activities offered by Scotty's for years to come.
Please support us in our quest to help bring happiness to these children. Any donation, no matter how small will make such a difference to their lives.
Thank you,
Team Viribus Audax
