Story
Most mountain treks start already at altitude….this one we’ll be starting at sea level on the beach in Llanfairfechan (nr Conwy) and trekking to the summit of the third highest mountain in Wales called Carnedd Llewelyn at 1,064m…and back :-)
Carnedd Llewelyn is in the Carneddau range in Snowdonia and while it’s the 3rd highest mountain in Wales its just 21m lower than No.1 Snowdon and just 1m lower No.2 Carnedd Ugain. It’s a big mountain! From the beach we’ll actually summit 6 mountains - Carnedd y Ddelw (686m), Drum (770m), Foel-Fras (942m), Carnedd Gwenellian (926m), Foel-Grach (976), Carnedd Llewelyn (1,064m) then return!
As well as our volunteering programme at VMO2 we're also taking on this challenge to support the incredible work done by Carers UK.
Carers must feel valued and supported for the huge contribution they all make. We want to make sure that the care they provide isn't taken for granted and Carers UK is battling for greater understanding and support in our society & being there for carers with information and advice, right from the start and by building a network of Carer positive employers.
Also, as the only national helpline for unpaid Carers in the UK, the Carers UK Helpline is an essential lifeline connecting carers to vital support and information and helping to tackle feelings of loneliness and isolation. Carers UK is receiving a huge increase in demand showing that the service remains a crucial resource for unpaid carers across the UK.
It’s this helpline we’re raising funds to make sure it continues to provide such an incredible service to many.
