Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am running the Detroit Free Press Half Marathon which starts in Detroit (USA) crosses into Windsor (Canada) and finishes back in Detroit on the 20th October 2013.

I am running for Neuroblastoma Alliance UK and in memory of a courageous little girl called Sadie Rose Clifford who lost her battle to Neuroblastoma at the tender age of 2 years old.

The NCCA UK helps children suffering from Neuroblastoma, a childhood cancer, access clinical treatments that are only available abroad. They also support research to bring new treatments to the UK.

I first heard about this charity just before moving to Canada in 2012 when Sadie Rose, from Knaresborough, (a neighbouring town to where I'm from) fell asleep forever having fought and battled against Neuroblastoma from the age of just 14 months old. This not only touched the local community deeply but her case went even further afield and donations and fundraising are still being raised in her memory to help other children diagnosed with this cancer. I did not know Sadie Rose personally but know people who did and who are doing everything possible to help raise awareness and donations for her cause. She was a truely inspirational child!

In the UK, 2 children a week are diagnosed with Neuroblastoma and their families have to face the challenges of getting the support and treatment that is needed to give their babies a chance to fight it. The NCCA UK helps to provide this. Help me help them and support what they do.

Health and wealth should not go hand in hand! Medical treatment should be accessible to every human being, no matter what the cost. Let's fight cancer together!

MY STORY - The last time I remember running was at high school so as you can imagine, this is a huge challenge for me! Everyone that knows me will appreicate how much effort it will take me to run 13.1 miles. I aim to run the whole distance and will do this with my own children in mind as well as all those children and people that fight each day to survive cancer!
