Yep....that’s right I’m going to shave my head!!
Why you ask?
I want to do something to help during this COVID-19 crisis. Neighbours around me are sewing, baking, shopping, delivering and doing their bit. I can’t help with those things but I can do this. My husband recently suggested on social media that I shave my head for fun as a distraction while we are on lockdown then it occurred to us that doing it for charity, specifically to support our local hospital was the way to go.
Kingston hospital is my local and I’m passionate about wanting to help. NHS workers are all amazing in my eyes but Kingston hospital is special to me and while the virus is threatening us all the hospital staff are there doing everything they can for us.
The hospital has featured in my life since birth. Childhood illnesses, hospital stays, A&E trips, birth of my two children, and ongoing brilliant support for managing my arthritis. Even when recently my 3 year old daughter was very ill with suspected COVID-19 the staff were brilliant. I have also included some photo’s on my page during some of my visits.
We all know how hard it is right now on all medical and support staff. They desperately need additional showers, furniture for rest areas, emotional support for their mental health and many more practical items to make their long shifts more bearable. Naturally medical supplies for patients is priority. However we must look after the workers too, we have all witnessed images of exhausted, emotional nurses, doctors etc.
This is my opportunity to give back and I hope everyone that knows me will encourage their family, their friends and their contacts from far and wide to make this happen!
Please, please help me raise funds to help them. Any donation large or small will be amazing.
In return I will share images and a TikTok video of my new shiny head – just hope my children will recognise me!
