Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs.

Ian & I have fund raised on an annual  basis for a few years now after some of our friends badgered me for a 40th party... it went a little crazy & we ended up buying a tap in the wastelands of northern Kenya, where I had visited previously & stayed on a mission & fell in love with the people but NOT the poverty. Its still running a few years on, & so do our friends now, whenever we mention birthdays, as its ALWAYS followed by.... .we are thinking of fundraising could you just help us do.......

We go to Petra in October & cant wait! Its going to be fab! Somewhere we have always fancied seeing, but never dreamt we would do it as anything other than a package tour. Ian's already getting his camera batteries charged, and those who know him know what that means...groans from all corners of room!

Training has already started. Ian is climbing his stairs at work.. no mean feat, there are 37 in total- flights that is, not just stairs!  and I am walking to work & back 3 days a week, about a 9 mile round  trip, taking 80 minutes at the moment, but have already reduced 10 minutes off that time as well as the beetroot red face & looking like I need rescusitation by the time I get to work! No energy left for anything when I got there in January, but now its March & I need to 'Up the pace'. Thinking of fastening a plaque to my back with the logo on, do you think it will work? 150 cars passed me the other day, if they all donated a pound.......

Thankyou , in anticipation, every little helps the cause. xx

Halloween night at the'Old Post Office'. Pie & pease, great fun night out for a few at short notice. Thankyou all for your support.

Great Night out at Northowram club, RACE NIGHT. Thank you to all who attended & gave generously (hope you all had a win on your little 'flutters') £540 raised.....every little & a lot ..helps! So greatful for Northowram peoples & friends/family support, we cannot do it without you fab people! xx

22/6/2012: Well folks, its getting closer. We have just been to the meeting to tell us all about the trip & met up with some of the other people who will be going with us, a lovely bunch. It has really brought it home to us though. Parkinson's is a terrible disease process which affects so many, YOUNG PEOPLE TOO! The effects of the disease itself are bad enough, but then there are the side effects of the medications to contend with too! All the money we raise this time will go to research into a cure & better treatments...please please give generously. or if you can think of any money making ideas, please pass them on to us.

We are now collecting mobile phones , so if you have any spare ones cluttering up your cupboards, please drop them off at the drs surgeries, or contact us & we will pick them up, all proceeds of course to Parkinson's.

The sponsored walk (for the sponsored walk, if that makes sense) is on the 14th July.....get your boots & waterproofs ready! xx

!5th July 2012Good GRIEF!!! ...The sponsored 17 mile mile walk turned into 20 & a HALF mile walk!!!! The half was very IMPORTANT!     Sorry Tracy, Sue & Jane, hope your blisters heal VERY VERY SOON & THANKYOU, but whats a blister between firends! x

THANKYOU SO MUCH  to the twelve who participated & it looks like raised... around a THOUSAND POUNDS! we need to have a count up.  Also to the chap on the canal bank, who's a really good shot! Thanks also to Lee at the Navigation Pub Sowerby Bridge for the gorgeous & well earned supper donated. And also a big thanks for the folks in the pub who donated to the tin!

Next plan..who knows, any ideas, nearly there but not quite!

Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.
