Story
Hi All
We all completed the run. It was an amazingly warm day which was lovely for a day at the beach but not one for running. It was a scorcher! We spent 8 miles begging for a breeze and a cloud to pass over the sun for respite. Yes I know we should not bedgrudge the sunshine in this great country of ours. There was a fabulous mist shower on route which gave a few seconds of cool bliss. Well be careful what you ask for we got a a breeze alright, a massive head wind. We were running and running and making little progress, it was fierce.
However we successfully completed the run in 1 hour and 48 mins and came 10026 & 10027th in a race with over 21,000 people in it. Very pleased with ourselves. And also glad we were quicker than the 47th regiment pulling an armoured truck!
We are back in training as of 3rd November in readiness for the Reading Half marathon.
Thank you to all those that have sponsored us, the Hospice are thrilled. I am very touched by everyones generosity, I know my Grandma is smiling.
xx
Alex and I are running in the Great South Run, a whopping 10 miles, on Sunday 25th October. We are running for an organisation called Hospice in the Weald. My Grandma, Edith Otto, sadly passed away at the Hospice on Saturday 5th September 2009 after battling a long illness, she will be sadly missed. The Hospice provided excellent care in the last few weeks or her life, providing care with patience and understanding. The support they gave to my family was attentive and considerate.
Organisations like the Hospice look after people with life limiting illnesses, to work for such a wonderful organisation, in often sad circumstances, takes a special sort of someone. The Hospice needs donations to continue their great work, to look after someone else's Grandma with such care and attention as they did mine. My Grandma believed in this organisation asking for donations instead of flowers at her own funeral, its sad that we have to use this testimony to show how much good this organisation did for my Grandma and our family. Please help us support the Hospice by donating and sponsoring Alex and I in our challenge.
Thank you xx
