We fund integrative therapies and research to improve life for all with Parkinson's

Story

I am raising money for the world’s first Parkinson’s Centre for Integrated Therapy.

Delivered through a new partnership between Parkinson’s Care and Support UK and the University of Kent, the new centre will offer innovative forms of neurostimulation along with free access to long standing, non-drug therapies such as physiotherapy, psychotherapy, Parkinson’s specific exercise programmes, mental health therapy, nutritional therapy and support, speech and language therapy, massage and art.

An estimated 2,000 people will visit the centre during its inaugural year, with its integrated approach filling a much-needed gap in the support options currently available. Covering clinical, research and education delivery, the centre will also serve as a community hub for people with Parkinson’s and their families.

There is currently no cure for Parkinson’s, but different therapies and support can help people manage the condition and to live as best as possible within their individual capabilities. These therapies are in high demand and some are not routinely available. Therefore, providing freely accessible therapies so that multiple synonyms can be managed all under one roof is a top priority.

In order for this centre to be opened PCSUK & The University of Kent need to raise £600,000. I would like to play my part in this by organising a series of charity events with a my fundraising team known as 'Parkies Angels' . I would love as many people as possible to join my team and take part not only in fundraisers that will challenge you personally but also fun events that are accessible for everyone.

The first challenge for ‘Parkies Angels’ will be a skydive. I would like us to do this as close to World Parkinson’s Day (the 11th April 2022), as possible and would like to see if we could jump on either Saturday the 9th or Sunday the 10th April. This date will be confirmed asap.

If you would like to join the 'Parkies Angels' team and help to make a difference by getting this centre built whilst also challenging yourself by taking part in a skydive please let me know.

The minimum donation for each person to raise in order to do the skydive is £395 + £70 registration fee.

Please do ask any friends and family members if they would like to join as well.
