Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My son was diagnosed with Scoliosis at 15 years old. It was misdiagnosed by the doctors and  the curve is now severe.

Scoliosis used to be screened in schools however it was was stopped due to funding.

Symptoms can be as simple as stiffness when walking at a younger age around 10.

When  a child goes through a growth spurt around 14 years old the spinal curve  can progress quickly, this causes the shoulders to look out of line, a prominence of the shoulder blade when bending and uneveness in the hips.

Braces can be used to prevent the curve getting worse if the condition is noticed at a young age.

I want to raise money for the charity support people who are suffering with Scoliosis, to help support suffers with the  issues they face, either major surgery, pain or body image. Having someone independent to talk to can make all the difference to a person's mental wellbeing.

Scoliosis can have a major impact on a teenager who is growing and huge decisions they face what  cause them anxiety and worry.

The charity supports those who need it and patients are given their details when they're diagnosed so they can access support.

They also raise awareness for health professionals and the public about the condition. Spotting the symptoms and treating it early can help prevent severe curvature of the spine and reduce the chances of major surgery.

Thank you for reading and  any donations. xxx
