Thanks for coming to look at Theo’s memory page, he passed away at just 5 weeks old on the 21st March this year, after being born as our Valentine’s Day baby.
We knew from our scans that Theo was going to need help from the Neo- Natal team, and from the very beginning they have been outstanding.
We first met the team before Theo arrived- first they looked after Jessica when she was born, and again when Lexi needed some extra care as well. We then met them again while I was pregnant- they told us what to expect, who to talk to and how they would be helping Theo. Nothing was too much for them, and they made us so comfortable with Theo going straight into their care.
The team helped arrange Theo’s Baptism, and supported us when Theo was transferred to St. George’s’ for his shunt surgery for his brain pressure. Theo was born with hydrocephalus, pulmonary hypertension and hyplasia but the team treated him no different- and in fact spoiled him a lot as he flirted with them all with his beautiful big eyes! He definitely enjoyed watching all the nurses and all the cuddles he got.
Finally, when Theo came back to Kingston and began to deteriorate and pass away, the whole team was so kind and thoughtful and made such a horrific time easier for us. Everything was our decision, and we were treated with respect and privacy as Theo passed. The team went out of their way to help us through this time, and offering us the little touches that made all the differences- the last photos with Theo, a final blessing with the Priest, his foot and handprints etc.
I could write a thousand words and not come close to expressing how much this team meant to us as a family. Hoping that through fundraising we can give something back to them xx
