Story
In December 2012 I slipped a disc in my back. My left sciatic nerve
was damaged causing foot drop meaning I couldn't move my left foot properly.
By January 2013 I was in excruciating pain, bed ridden and had to crawl to the toilet on my hands and knees. As bad as the pain was the worst part was being shut off from everyone lying in bed on very strong painkillers and not being able to get about on my own.
In February the surgeons decided to operate. Luckily it was a
success. Since my operation (on the 13th Feruary 2013 at 13:00 hrs!) I
have worked to regain proper movement in my left foot and learned to run again.
Waiting for the surgery I knew a potential complication was paralysis and/or double incontience. I was lucky my surgery was a complete success but not everyone with spinal injuries can be helped at the moment. By taking on the challenge to run one race a month cumulating in London I am hoping to give more people the chance I had:
