In 2011 my amazing mum was suddenly struck down by Lymphoma, a type of blood cancer. She went from being relatively fit and healthy and working full time to being an invalid in hospital in the space of a few weeks. As a family we didn't know what to do. It was devastating. 
She fought for months, undergoing horrendous chemotherapy treatment but luckily we were able to visit her every day because of the specialist care available locally at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle. The North East needs that facility and the patients there need the support of Bright Red to make the long stay in hospital more bearable.

Sadly, my mum lost her fight. And I still miss her every single day.
