Story
Nearly two years ago I set out to create more balance in my
life, and as part of that, having more fun became higher up on my agenda!
Shaving my hair off seems a fun thing to do, doesn’t it?
At about the same time I was introduced to Practical Action,
an international development organisation, who help people find solutions to some of the world’s toughest problems.
Practical Action works with communities to develop ingenious solutions for agriculture, water, waste management, climate resilience and clean energy access. Then they share what is proven to work with others, so many more people can change their world. And they believe in the power of small, to change the big picture. It is focusing on its work in slums to help tackle the potential horrendous impact of COVID-19 in these communities.
A hair cut is a small thing I can do right now to ask you to support people in poverty around the world during this coronavirus pandemic.
I was 15 when I saw first hand the devastation that displacement and extreme poverty can bring during a visit to a refugee camp in Sudan. It was perhaps then, that being able to help generate greater equality became important to me.
I would like to thank my gorgeous husband John for supporting me in this 'hairoff' initiative. He is going to be shaving my head on Friday, 8th May, although he would rather not be!
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and for donating as much as you can at this time.
You can learn more about the work Practical Action is doing by visiting https://practicalaction.org/corona-virus.
And one more thing...if you would like to join me and shave your hair off to raise even more money for Practical Action please get in touch and we can add you to the team. (Responsible adults only).
