2019 marks 5 years since my niece Isabelle was born in Sheffield. Isabelle was born requiring bowel surgery shortly after birth. This left her recovering for  several months in hospital at the start of her life. The Sick Children’s trust supported Isabelle and her family through this difficult time enabling them to remain together at what was a very difficult and challenging time. 

The Sick Children’s Trust are working to a future where every family with a seriously ill child in hospital will be able to stay together, just minutes from their child’s bed during their treatment. They believe keeping families together significantly improves the recovery of seriously ill children. They provide free, high-quality ‘Home from Home’ accommodation, as well as emotional and practical support, to families with sick children in hospital in the UK.

Today Isabelle is a thriving young school girl. Thanks to the Sick Children’s Trust her challenging start to life was not made harder by her family being separated from her. Our family have continued to fundraise for this wonderful charity ever since as our way of saying “thank you”.
