Story
In October 2019, I will be joining 15 amazing women on the HER Planet Earth 10-Day Expedition to Northern Kenya. This unique journey will take us on an unforgettable hike across 100 km of Kenya's remote Matthew’s Range.
We're embarking on this expedition to raise funds and awareness for Conservation International’s remarkable work with local conservancies in Northern Kenya. We will be hiking through tough and varied terrain, including sandy river beds, ancient elephant tracks, old growth forest, plains and hilly peaks. The area is home to several endangered species included the Hirola antelope, Grevy’s zebra, Reticulated giraffe and important populations of African elephant and black rhinoceros.
Locally-led community conservancies drive positive long-term change through regional peace and security keeping; resource management programs to conserve water and grasslands; and the development of sustainable businesses linked to conservation. These programs provide women and girls with important education and income earning opportunities that can genuinely change their futures.
The money we raise, can make a difference.
- $230 will pay a female elephant keeper's salary for a month
- $241 will pay a female ranger's salary for a month
- $500 will give 30 women access to BeadWorks 2-day workshop
- $1000 will provide a girl's school bursary for a year
- $250,000 will allow us to open a new conservancy
I am truly excited about the adventure ahead! I would love you support to help bring opportunities to more women and girls in these remote communities.
