Story

My sisters and I have decided to run the Basingstoke Half Marathon (13.1 miles), to honour the memory of our dear mother Dorette Matilda Curtis, and raise money for The Alzheimer's Society. This charity is very close to our hearts, as we lost our mother in January this year after she had suffered from this condition for several years, and we hope to raise lots of money towards future research & hopefully a cure for this terrible condition one day.

For the past few months I have been training hard in preparation for this event, as I really want to do it justice, and so I hope that you will help me achieve what I am setting out to do – both raise lots of money for a very worthwhile cause, and make mum proud, as she would never have dreamed I could run this far!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

And lastly, on a personal level, I’d like to thank all my friends in anticipation of your kind support and generosity. Feel free to come and cheer me on, on the day (if you have 5 hours or so to spare!!).

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.
