Story
Hi my name is Phillip and it has always been my dream to run the London Marathon since watching on television since i was little. I have finally been given the opportunity to run the 2020 London Marathon on behalf of the Alzheimer's Society, who i cant thank enough for helping me live out this dream. This is a charity which hold close to myself and my family. In 2006 my Nan who had Alzheimer's passed away it was horrible disease, as she forgot who we all were and seeing her in them last days was awful, I didn't even recognise her. She was always a loving and giving lady who I will always admire. My other Nan also had Alzheimer's when she passed away in 1984. This awful disease has affected and taken so many amazing and talented people who I have admired also in my life. Two example of this is Sir Terry Pratchett a great humorist, satirist and Fantasy novelist. He died of Alzheimer's on 12 March 2015. Dame Barbara Windsor who currently has Alzheimer's, she has given me great pleasure watching her in carry on films and listening to her infectious and naughty laugh and in a more serious side the soap drama Eastenders.
This disease effects 850,000 people in the UK and approx 44 million people world wide. This Charity helps those people who need it most in many ways and to help find a cure. Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever.Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
So to help get me through these cold winter days training to run the 26.2 miles can you please find it in your hearts to dig deep and sponsor me and give what you can afford so we can help people with Alzheimer's live a more comfortable life and support them and their families and to find a possible cure.
Thank You
