Story

This is a story about a wild, beautiful, free spirited 15 year old girl called VAISHALI. It's how she managed to inspire so many people at such a young age, always quoting "YOLO" & how everyone's world was left shattered when she left us.  Life was in the moment for her, she would never waste it.

She would've had her 22nd birthday on January this year.

She loved wholeheartedly & broke down every barrier that existed.  She was born with this wild curly hair, born to be noticed.  She managed to creep into everyone's heart & made us all realise how we should live life in the moment. Her love was so powerful it reached out across the world binding & bringing everyone together. She built so many bridges & opened so many doors before she left.

But this story also shows us a magical world, a world which blesses all that enter with so much love, support & dedication. A energy force so powerful they refuse to let you fall, this beautiful energy are the earthbound angels of PICU.

I don't know where to start, it's a heartbreaking situation. On Tuesday 13th October my daughter Vaishali's heart stopped in school, she had no beat, no pulse, no life.  Paramedics fought fiercely to save her, she was blue & cold as ice.  We all watched, begging, praying, dying inside, god please save our baby. Just as they got a faint pulse, it stopped again, then again. It took hours to try stabilize her, everyone put their heart & soul in trying to save her, not once did they hesitate or give up. She was ventilated & taken to St Marys PICU.

From the second we got to PICU, I could feel the love & care. It was not just Vaishali they were caring for, it was all of us. They did not leave her side for even a minute & watched over her like a hawk. They tolerated all the outbursts of anger, rage & confusion from the family members. They wiped our tears, held our hands, gave us hugs & showered us with so much compassion. We were hoarding corridors, rooms any and every space at all hours of the day, but they never complained, instead understood.

Vaishali fought hard for four days. She helped us grow strong by giving us TIME.  Time to hold her, touch her, talk to her & love her.  Then on Saturday 17th late evening she passed away beautifully,  peacefully surrounded by so much Love.

I didn't know PICU existed before Vaishali & I realised how important it was to create awareness and funding for it to help so many more families.

Thank you  so much for every one who has been a part of Vaishali's care, family, friends, All the medical staff - her GP, Consultants & nurses that have cared for her over the years. She would've never got this far without all the support & care you provided. You all really gave her a chance to live her life to the fullest. Vaishali was also blessed with the most lovely school teachers & staff; from the moment she stepped foot into nursery, cradling her all the way to secondary, right until the end & continued to even after. The whole community & every one else. Thank you so much, you have all supported us from the moment she came into our lives.

The beautiful lady from rapid response, I never got to thank you, but u were by her side within minutes & worked tirelessly. I don't know if you'll ever get this message but my arms reach out to you with the biggest hug. I am really grateful you were there by her side.

Many people didn't know Vaishali had a bucket list, I mean, many children don't tend to have one.  We've decided to try completing her bucket list for her.  In doing so, we will feel her by our side, experience a beautiful moment ourselves & also try to raise some more funds for cosmic.

We will update the page as we do them & here is a few links from the evening standard which has some of her bucket list if you would like to see.
