Update!
A huge thank you to everyone who sponsored myself and my team for rowing 2000m at 'Row Hard for Neuro-disability' on 15 September aboard HMS Belfast. I have to admit that the 500m I rowed seemed interminable and the challenge was much tougher than I anticipated!
We rowed against 96 pretty fit City people, most of whom were under 30 and rowed the distance in around 8 mins (compared with our 12mins 30secs), but then we are better fundraisers than rowers which, after all, is the way it should be!
The whole event, which truly was unique, raised a respectable £4000; a good outcome for the first 'edition' and a substantial contribution to our annual fundraising need of £2m. This is what we invest in enabling the severely disabled people in our care to communicate and be mobile so that they can enjoy an optimum quality of life.
Next year, Row Hard will be bigger and better, and if you happen to be free and in London, please come and joins us.

On 15 September my colleagues Aysen, Irene, Charlotte and I will be taking part in 'Row Hard for Neuro-disability', a City-based fundraising event aboard HMS Belfast to raise money for the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability (RHN). We will be rowing 2000m against many other teams, including the GB Olympic Women's Eight (split in two!) who will show us how it's done.
If you are in the area please do come by to watch; it's £20 per person to come aboard, and that includes food and drink. We're also having a great after-party from 8.15pm onwards, including a huge raffle with prizes such a meal at Gaucho City, West East theatre tickets, haircuts at top salons, gym memberships and lots more up for grabs!
Please give generously; the RHN is a national medical charity, not part of the NHS, and must raise £2million each year to continue providing the very best of care to 240 of the UK's most profoundly disabled individuals. Every pound counts and Just Giving couldn't be simpler to use, so please, dig deep and give a little back to a charity that might one day help a loved one of your own.
