Story

Australia is currently being ravaged by the worst bushfires seen in decades, with more than 2,000 homes destroyed or damaged so far. Entire towns have been engulfed in flames, and residents across several states find themselves displaced. In total, more than 17.9 million acres have been burned across Australia’s six states so far. Almost a third of koalas in NSW may have been killed in the fires, and, with this, a third of their habitat has been destroyed. Unfortunately, Australia is only just entering its summer season. Normally, temperatures peak in January and February, meaning the country could be months away from finding relief.

Wildlife organizations throughout Australia have been overrun with burnt and injured animals from the catastrophic bushfires devastating huge parts of the country.

Dr. Michael Pyne, head veterinarian, with the Currumbin Wildlife Hospital and his team have been working around the clock for many months, caring for the sick and injured wildlife. He said, "The recent fires have seen a significant increase in native animal admissions. Our hospital is at capacity with injured animals arriving from around Australia daily."

Currumbin Wildlife Hospital is one of the busiest wildlife hospitals in the world. The hospital relies on community donations to support its work tirelessly treating, rehabilitating and releasing native wildlife.

Your donations are appreciated and going to an exceptionally worthy cause!
