Story
Some of you may know that my sister suffered a mental breakdown last year following 6 years of physical illness. However, she seemed to 'fall through the gaps' in the system and we had little idea of how best to help her or where to turn for support...
Fast forward 6 months and we were taking her to Leeds to live in a residential setting with Caring for Life until she was back on her feet and could cope with living independently again. She would also be able to grow her confidence and gain new skills through volunteering at their farm - a bit of a dream come true for her, to work at a farm! Caring for Life care for many vulnerable adults, including my sister, and we are so incredibly grateful for all they have done and are continuing to do in her life. Here's what they have to say for themselves...
In addition to providing supported living homes and housing support across Leeds for people who have fallen through the net, Caring For Life has always offered therapeutic activities at Crag House Farm, the charity's base. The farm, as well as providing a place of safety and social opportunities, also helps people develop a constructive lifestyle. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Caring For Life sadly had to stop all therapeutic project activities. Despite all the ongoing support, phone calls and online activities, that crucial lifeline was gone. They look forward to the day when they can open up their doors once again, but to make this a reality, they need to buy personal protective equipment. By donating today, you will be helping Caring For Life to once again, provide a safe space for those in their care.
If you know me well you'll know that two things I hate are running and sharing my life on social media 😂 So this is a huge challenge! But raising money for this charity that, like many others, has been impacted financially by COVID-19, is going to be worth the hours of pain running and the embarrassment of sharing a bit of my life with you! So please support these guys generously if you are able to. Many thanks, Una xx
