Story
UWC Foodies
Founded earlier this year, UWC Foodies’ overarching objective is to create a forum for UWCers to engage with each other and with the world around us through food – international understanding through our palate! By sharing recipes, our attempts at cooking each other’s food, foodie events and virtual global food tours, we hope to foster deeper connections among members across generations of UWCers, families & friends and across schools. The inaugural Malaysia / Singapore food tour in particular was a great success.
We also want to provide an opportunity for foodies to give back to the UWC movement. For the next food tour, we will be spotlighting
the current refugee crisis and to that end, Syria will be our next stop in the tour. More importantly, we also want to do something tangible towards the crisis and are looking to contribute to the UWC Refugee Initiative (https://www.uwc.org/about/news/ambitious-scholarship-programme-outstanding-refugee-teenagers-launched-uwc-and-brc)
by raising 1 scholarship over the next year through various foodie events across the globe.
For UWC Day this year, the UWC Foodies is collaborating with the UWC International Office to host alumni foodie events across the globe on the weekend of September 17 & 24. We will also be using the opportunity to launch the UWC Foodies refugee scholarship.
Please join us in supporting this initiative and if you are keen to help us host a small foodie event wherever you are, do not hesitate to get in touch.
