Story
The University of Worcester Security Team has dealt with some challenging situations over the years. A car wedged in the student union ? No problem. A lorry-load of exploding gas canisters ? We’ll sort it. A visit from Her Majesty the Queen ? Tell Liz not to worry. We like to think we handle extraordinary situations professionally and to the best of our ability. Now, though, the team is embarking on a challenge that will stretch all those taking part to the limit of their endurance, namely The Three Peaks Challenge.
On August 30 2014 members of UW Security – along with a few special guests – will attempt to climb Ben Nevis, Scaffel Pike and Mount Snowden within a time frame of twenty four hours. With generous help from the University, team members will drive to Scotland, the English Lake District, and Wales in order to scale Britain’s three highest peaks. We’ll endure fatigue, exhaustion, sleep deprivation, and, no doubt, a few nasty blisters along the way, not to mention being cooped up together in a couple of mini buses for long periods!
Why are we doing it ? To raise money for Worcester University’s chosen charity for 2014, St. Richard’s Hospice. Security team members have been raising money for the university’s various charities for a number of years but this year’s charity is close to our hearts – some of our number have had direct experience of St Richard’s and seen at close hand the valuable work they do. So, please donate as we seek to raise a significant amount for St Richard’s. Our challenge will be tough, no doubt about it. But, with a can-do attitude and mutual support, we’re going to give it our best shot!
Many thanks.
