We support research into urological cancers to keep fighting cancer and find a cure

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our page.  Cancer research is for me, you, our coworkers, our family and friends.

Researchers require different types of support for equipment and materials including chemicals, pipettes, microscopes and cell culture facilities – all of which are vital to lab work.  Items required can be very small and cost the equivalent of a cup of coffee and a slice of cake or can cost the same as a car! Relatively small and inexpensive pieces of equipment can still facilitate great research breakthroughs.  Without the researchers, the materials and the equipment, important research could not take place.

With 1 in 2 people now getting cancer it may seem we’ve got nowhere with cancer research.  But significant advances have and are being made all the time.  Over the years we have better diagnosis, treatment and cancer care and even cure.

Cancer isn’t one thing.   There are lots of different kinds of cancer in different tissues that act in different ways. They’re not all caused by the same mutations and they’re not all going to respond in the same way to the same type of treatment.

Research in health, sometimes also called medical research or clinical research, refers to research that is done to learn more about human health and these mutations and responses.  This research aims to find better ways to prevent and treat disease

Clinical or medical research in cancer allows doctors to decide how to best treat cancer patients. It is what makes the development of new medicines, new chemo therapies, procedures and other new diagnostics.  Without clinical research, doctors would not be able to decide if new treatments are better than our current treatments.

We hear about Translational medical research - this seeks to take the medical discoveries that have been made in a laboratory setting and move them into medical practices that can be used by physicians to improve the lives of their patients. When you support medical research, you are helping to build the future of medicine.
