Story

Really I was press ganged into this by a good friend, as I have never been a cyclist and have always preferred something with an engine on it. However, following the tragic death of Marco Simoncelli, Jamie Dobb, a friend of Marco, decided that a charity cycle ride to raise money in Marco's honour was on the cards.

Initially I thought how hard can it be, but then I realised that its a non stop relay, sleeping on a bus, cycling day and night, come any weather. Then I went for a cycle and really started to panic. All those curries and beer and a behind the desk lifestyle meant that hills and I simply did not agree, well at least going up them.!

To add insult to injury, the route was decided, and the other riders, most of whom were born with a bicycle attached to them decided to go over the Great St Bernard Pass in the Alps!. I have therefore been training very hard now for several months, have discovered what Assos cream is for, and to be truthful have lost weight, got alot fitter and actually am now for the first time starting to relish the prospect of the challenge. As a group, we are raising money for several charities, but my selected charity is Rainbows. As a father of three children, I felt this charity was one I am sure we all hope we don't need to benefit from, but one I am sure we are all glad is there for those unfortunate enough to need it.

It will be an epic task for me, and I am sure the exhaustion and soreness will be made much more bearable by the thought of the difference your generous donations will make to someone who really needs it.

I know times are hard, but please give whatever you can, it all adds up. Thankyou, Trevor
