Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page , here you can sponsor me to fulfill a dream of running in the London Marathon in April 2018 and raise much needed funds for WellChild a charity supporting sick children and their families.
WellChild is the national UK children's charity making it possible for children and young people with exceptional health needs to be cared for at home instead of hospital, wherever possible.
Most of you who know my family are aware of the struggles we faced coming to terms with the premature arrival of our precious twins Thomas and Emma. Emma weighed in at 850g and Thomas a tiny record breaking 320g. He was hospitalised on life support for most of his first 3 years of life, he was dependant on oxygen until he was eight and fed by gastrostomy tube until he was six. Any small illness that most of us take for granted such as a common cold, would devastate our family and have Thomas fighting for his life. Thomas is now 13 is still very small for his age and has an intellectual disability due to his struggles early on. Despite all he has endured he is a happy caring boy who tries his best. I took up running as a way to alleviate the fear. anxiety and uncertainty that goes hand in hand with juggling hospitalisation of a seriously ill child with trying to create a somewhat normal life with as little disruption as possible for my other children. I truly believe that running saved me from falling in a heap, whilst strengthening both my body and mind.
The work that Well Child do to put supports around the family to be able to care for their children in the home is something that my family would have loved to have been available to us during Toms long stay in the hospital.
If you are able to support my run and donate to Well Child please do, any donation big or small will help them to continue their amazing work.
