Hello everyone, some of you already know about me doing The Great North Run and yes I must be mad, Im old, I dont run, Im unfit, Im fat and now have some of my lung missing due to cancer i had seven months ago. Im in the early stages of training and its causing me a little discomfort from the surgery I had. Its a personal challenge for me because my doctor told me i would never run a marathon after surgery, I know its only a half marathon but its The Great North Run. I have decided that cancer research uk deserves my support for many reasons. I am a none smoker but got lung cancer, my mother inlaw and a work colleague did not survive, my mum and auntie survived lymphoma cancer but not my uncle. One of my best friends and auntie in law survived breast cancer, but an auntie in law did not. So come on everybody we all know somebody that has had cancer so in memory or celebration of them get behind me and help me raise valuable funds for cancer research this is a huge challenge for me and with your support you will keep me training and i will be able to do The Great North Run.
