Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am taking part in the virtual marathon for EACH in memory of my nephew Charlie, who lost his courageous battle to mitochondrial disease in October, 2020 aged 6. Charlie loved an outdoor adventure, taking the hand of whoever was near and walking them around for hours.
I am supporting EACH as this is a charity that's important to my family. EACH does fantastic work in supporting families and cares for children with life-threatening conditions. Their family centred approach includes specialist nursing care, symptom management support, short breaks, well-being activities, therapies and counselling. Find out more at: https://www.each.org.uk/
The Treehouse hospice in Ipswich provided a lifeline for my nephew and his family, providing essential support related to Charlie's needs and condition. Over a period of nine months the hospice took care of any challenges that arose alleviating any additional stress for Charlie and his family. The team provided compassion at all times; respite in both the home and hospice & family activities for Charlie and his siblings.
"The hospice gave us the ability to be together as a family, an alternative between the home and hospital. Charlie was made as comfortable as possible, his room filled with people and things that were special to him. Charlie's symptom management nurse was a life-line and his music therapist was so gentle and in-tune with everything that was happening. Everything was taken care of so we could always be by Charlie's side. It was important to have those people around us to hold our hands at a time when we couldn't think of what we needed to do."
Please help me to raise £1,000 to support EACH and continue their crucial work for children and their families. It will also motivate me to keep going during those hours of training and the virtual marathon event.
