We pioneer life-saving cancer research to help us beat cancer

Story

As many of you know, in September 2013 the day before my 37th birthday I woke up to find a huge lump under my arm. At first thought it must be an infection, however something told me it was melanoma returning. As I'd had a mole removed in 2003 which proved to be malignant melanoma on the same arm.

I was dealt with incredibly well. I had all the other lymph nodes under my arm removed which all turned out to be clear. I'm so very lucky cause melanoma spreads so quickly as a secondary cancer. I've had loads more moles removed. A couple of moles also proved to be malignant melanoma so I had another lymph node from under my other arm removed. Fortunately everything has been clear since June 2014. I'm just full of scars, but thats the least of my worries. I have been very lucky so far in the way I've been treated.

I won't bore you with all the details but I assure you I truly have been on a rollercoaster. Now I feel like normality is coming back. I've kept as fit and healthy as possible, I've run in between surgeries. This cancer will never take away my love for life. I'll always stay positive its how i've been brought up. Now 26.2 miles and I can't believe it, I'm so lucky.

My Uncle was diagnosed with malignant melanoma just before me in 2002. He was a great man. He sadly lost his battle 10 years ago. I'm now in the process of undergoing genetic testing. As they think this is all genetic. Then my children and rest of my family can all undergo skin checks, which will be brilliant.

Its clear to see the knowledge gained from me first being diagnosed to now. My uncle would have stood a much better chance today. We've got to keep raising money to enable the geniuses to progress and eventually cure this nasty disease for good.

So I would be so grateful if you can sponsor me. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
