Tracey's Bupa Great North Run 2014 page

Bupa Great North Run 2014 · 7 September 2014 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This page is for the bravest girl , my daughter, Jessica. In November 2011 our world was completely turned upside down, when she became very poorly, and was diagnosed with having Type 1 diabetes.
As any mum, I was wrecked with worry, guilt , feelings of sadness and helplessness that she would have to live her life with this disease and I could not take it away, or do anything about it.
Thankfully 2 and half years on , she has gone from strength to strength due to the amazing support we get from the Diabetes Team at James Cook, and the continual changes to the ways modern insulins are given. Jessica herself is amazing and always tries to deal with her daily battle, positively, when she can - that in itself keeps me positive too. Most importantly, it is thanks to her loving Dad and little brother Ben, who are always here for her, along with her caring Grandparents.
Therefore, Jessica is my motivation to now raise awareness, money and hope for her and others (who will suffer in the future). Also, I want to keep myself physically/mentally fit, to ensure , I can be here for her through her life, to help in whatever way I can. ( and ofcourse my son)
I decided to set myself a hard challenge.
So here I am;up until Oct 2013 I was a non runner. ( the last time I did a decent Cross Country, was at the age of 14) and now I am about to embark on my first Half Marathon -in doing this, I hope to show Jessica, that most challenges in life can be overcome with positive thinking , hard work and motivation!
Your kind donations will help to fund research, to find new ways of treating people Diabetes and hopefully, even stop it altogether.
What keeps us going is that we are stronger than Diabetes and that there is always going to be someone struggling with something worse; with a good routine, monitoring and injections Jessica can at least, try to lead a full and normal life!
Special thoughts also to Erika Porter - your a star!
Also in doing this, it keeps the memory of our lovely friend Carolyn Crawther going and other loved members of the Cegla family.
