This October we will be embarking upon a World Record attempt to climb Kilimanjaro and attempt for the world’s highest official football match. With acclaim from both FIFA and Guinness World Records we hope to raise both money and awareness for the Steve Prescott Foundation.
For those of you who don't know of him, Steve was a professional rugby league player who not only played for St Helens, Hull, and Wakefield Trinity Wildcats, but also represented Great Britain and Ireland at an international level.
In 2007 he was diagnosed with the rare abdominal cancer, Pseudomyxoma Peritonei (PMP). Realising that he could either succumb to the illness or fight it, Steve decided to follow the latter and set up the "Steve Prescott Foundation", and in doing so spurred his legacy of inspiration.
In October 2013 Steve made the brave decision to undergo pioneering surgery to remove the cancer from his abdomen, but tragically passed away 3 weeks later, leaving behind his wife and sons.
His passing was not, however, the end. His life has been an inspiration to others, and in death he has continued to inspire. The surgery he helped pioneer has since helped improve the quality of life of other sufferers, and his Foundation has helped inspire and raise money for TryAssist and the Christie, raising hope for others.
For those of you who know us closest you will know that merely kicking a ball is challenge enough, let alone for a full 90 minutes at nearly 20,000ft!
So please help us to keep going by donating generously!
THANKS!!!
