Story
Yeah for us, we limped enthusiastically over the finish line!!
It was a fantastic day, well organised and we would encourage all our friends and supporters to do the same next year!
The weather was, thankfully, kind to us staying dry and just blowing the cobwebs away as we crossed the Downes. We met bright and early at Little Havens in Daws Heath and limbered and stretched ready for the off!! Yeh right!
As we crossed the start line, one member of our team, who shall remain unnamed, asked if we were nearly there yet, for which she got three stern glares followed by "nearly". We marched on like brave soldiers even carrying injuries such as Elaines dodgey ankle, Carolyns weak knee, Julies wrong shoes and Traceys ailment will remain a secret !! (but she's ok now!)
We gave ourselves a target of under two hours, even contending with styles and mud and were way ahead of the target until the route took us through old leigh and several pubs!!! There came the slippery slope, even more slippery than the Downes as one team member had palpatations at the thought of walking straight passed an open pub! In order to support our team member we frequented the said pub for light refreshments before continuing to the finish line at Fair Havens. We were greeted with soft drinks and a scone............. or two for some of us!!
So much fun was had by all that we decided to walk back to the pub to celebrate our success!
Thank you to all of you who supported us and see you there(or on our sponsor form) same time next year.
