We improve people's access to clean energy to transform lives & tackle climate change

Story

In a moment when I took temporary leave of my senses and believed I was 30 years younger I ‘agreed’ to cycle over 200 miles, climbing over 4,000 metres, from Durham to Edinburgh via seven wind farms!

I'm hoping to raise £500 for Renewable World. Many of the communities they work with have been severely affected by the largest earthquake to hit South East Asia in 80 years. Renewable World is committed to restoring the life-changing services to which these communities once had access

Nepal has special significance for me.  I’ve visited twice, the first time 30 years ago, and more recently with the kids (photo shows the boys after a game of footie in Bandipur). The people, whilst some of the poorest in the world, are probably the hardiest and most hospitable I have ever come across. It is thought the recent earthquake has directly affected 8 million people and damaged over half a million homes. It would be nice to think that turning the pedals a few times might contribute in some small way to rebuilding and renewing Nepal.

Here’s hoping for a following wind on the weekend of June 13th and 14th! More information about the challenge and the route I'll be doing can be found here - http://www.renewable-world.org/content/earth-wind-and-tyre

Many thanks for your support

Tony
