Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I ran the Great North Run on September 18th, as a warm-up for the Chicago Marathon which I ran on October 9th, . Many thanks to everyone who has already sponsored me for the two runs. The Great North was a lovely occasion, especially when the Red Arrows flew over the start! I managed a time of just under 1 hour 37 minutes, which wasn't bad on a warm day. The rain came down just as I started the last mile though, so that cooled me off! It was warm and sunny in Chicago (82'F) so I was pleased to get round in just over in 3 hours 36 minutes. The Chicago was the last of the 'five marathon majors' for me, having completed the London, Berlin, New York and Boston marathons in 2010/2011.
I am still collecting sponsorshipfor Arthritis Research UK. Millions of people suffer from painful and disabling arthritis and we need more research into the causes and treatments. I have seen the difficulties it can cause through treating patients as a GP, but also first hand, as my partner suffers from rheumatoid arthritis.
