Story
My Dad was nearly 84 when he passed away last January, he was a big family man , he was married to my Mum for 48 years and knew her for 54. They had 3 children Colin, Louise and me. Dad was an engineer by trade and passed his woodwork skills onto me (although no one will believe you). He loved his kids and set up a couple of businesses, one which Colin and Mum worked in but he was probably most successful when he worked for himself selling platform lifts and industrial doors. He sparked my interest in squash and golf to add to my portfolio of sports and he was Freemason where he was a worshipful master on a couple of occasions.
Towards the end of his life Dementia entered it and sadly this disease takes no prisoners and you have to remember the good times rather than the current ones, the spark was still there at times and this certainly made up for the times you were there when he wasn’t. Because of this I want to give something back, so I am virtually walking from John O’Groats to Lands End to raise money for dementia. There are a number of routes that I could take and I have decided to walk the whole length rather than the crow flies and the distance is 874 miles or 1407km.
