Story
I am running the St.Helens 10k Run on Sunday 11 th March to raise money for the Steve Prescott Foundation,
'Prekky' was one of my favourite players whilst at St.Helens. He played Rugby League for St Helens, Hull, Wakefield, Ireland and was a GB Lions Tourist. In September 2006, Steve was diagnosed with Pseudomyxoma Peritonei a rare form of Cancer, he was told that he would not see his two children grow up. Yet he continues to raise thousands for two organisations close to his heart. His work has been recognised as in 2010 Steve received an MBE for his contribution to Rugby League and charity work.
Set to receive the benefits of his fund-raising activities:
- The Christie: The Christie Cancer Hospital in Manchester is one of Europe's leading cancer centres, treating over 40,000 patients a year. This is where Steve is currently being treated. It is one of only two national specialist hospitals that specialises in Pseudomyxoma Peritonei in GB.
- Try Assist: Aims to support players whose lives are affected by serious injuries while playing the game of Rugby League.
