Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I recognise that in these times of austerity there are many 'pulls' on any disposable income that we may have, there are many charities asking for and needing support, I really do appreciate you taking the time to visit my page.
Many of you will know my Wonderful Mum has long been a sufferer of this debilitating disease, we've had to watch over the past 8 years as she has slowly been taken away from us, now unable to talk to us, unable to feed herself, unable to dress herself, in simple terms she has forgotten how to do many of the things we take for granted every day.
5 years ago this Month my equally Wonderful Dad, who was my Mum's Primary carer for 3 years, lost his own fight against illness and as we came to terms with that loss the Alzheimer's Society were there to support us and help us settle Mum into a care home where, as you can see above, we still see that warm loving smile. They have supported us ever since whenever we have needed them to.
I don't particularly enjoy running, it is a means to an end, that end includes helping to find a cure for dementia, the 21st century cancer. That's why I'm doing my first 20Km (13.2m) run as part of the Bupa Great North Run for the Alzheimer's Society. Any donation you can afford to make will go to helping them lead the fight against all forms of dementia.
Look out for regular updates and other fund raising bits and pieces I'll be doing (like suggest a track for my 20Km playlist, cake baking & selling days, Dinner party invites and lots more as I think of it :-) )
THANK YOU !
