Just over a year ago, my niece
Ava was born prematurely at 25 weeks. Whilst she received the best care, it
really brought home what support her amazing parents needed during the first 6
months in hospital and the coming months and years. Not just for Ava but for
any parents having to cope when a baby is born too small, too sick or too
early, it is a very challenging time and Bliss can offer support when it's
needed most.
To give you an idea of the cost involved and the requirement across the country Bliss have recently introduced the Bliss Nurse Programme to have a Bliss Nurse in each UK region (28) by 2020.
As the number of nurses now stands below that it illustrates how many more are needed. By reaching my fundraising target you will have helped fund a Bliss Nurse for nearly a month in one of those regions allowing them to provide the support needed to the families with babies in special care.
As some of you know I have got my trainers back on the last year and a half and wanted to use my “resurgence” in running (if you can call it that!) to give something back. So London Marathon it is!
Any donation you can give no matter the amount will go a long way to helping improve the care of babies up and down the country and improving the support offered to families throughout.
