Story
Hello! Thanks for visiting my just giving page.
In April I will be running the Marathon des Sables, or MdS, (French for Marathon of the Sands). It is a six-day, 251 km (156 mi) ultramarathon, which is roughly the distance of six regular marathons, the longest single stage is approximately 85km long.
This multiday race is held every year in southern Morocco, in the Sahara Desert and has been called the toughest foot race on Earth. The race is self sufficient which means I will be carrying everything I need for all the stages on my back with water supplies being restricted throughout the event.

I am running in support of the Matt Hampson Foundation who support people and provide advice, support, relief and/or treatment for anyone suffering serious injury or disability which has arisen from any cause, but in particular from participation in or training for any sport, sporting activity or other form of physical education or recreation. They assist individuals by offering direct grants or by paying into existing and future funds to assist with equipment, technology or just every day expenses.
Any support you can give me would be massively appreciated - there will be lots of both mentally and physically tough moments ahead from the long training runs through the winter months to the 55+ degree heat in the Sahara and every penny I raise will give me that extra motivation to climb the next sand dune or jebel!
If you've read this far - Thanks! Every penny you could spare really is a big support to me and will get me over that finish line in April.
Tom
