Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In September I am climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, almost 6000m high, for MND Scotland. Motor Neuron Disease has had a direct impact on my family over the last year when my Dad was diagnosed with MND at the start of 2014, and has since been diagnosed with Stage 4 Bowel Cancer. However fundraising for Macmillan will just have to wait until next year!
Motor Neuron Disease is a terminal illness which damages the nerves called motor neurons. It is a progressive illness that spreads throughout the muscles in the body and over the course of 2-5 years (sometimes more) leads to paralysis, respiratory failure and then death. So any donations that can be put towards finding a cure for the horrific disease or helping people with it cope is money well spent in my eyes.
Where your money goes, "MND Scotland provides care and support to everyone affected by Motor Neurone Disease. We also provide information and education services to healthcare professionals, and fund research to find a cure."
I am planning various fundraising events, from a 10k run on the 17th of May, (which I have given myself 34 days of preparation for) to bake sales, 10mile obstacle courses and basically anything that is suggested that will help me raise the money, maybe even get my legs waxed.
Donations of any size are much appreciated, and going towards an extremely important charity.
Thanks,
Tom.
