Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
After taking part in a 4 week PhD study for obese men, enduring muscle biopsies, V02 tests, ECG's and general ridicule from frustratingly healthy students I have decided to keep up the momentum by taking part in a series of triathlons in 2012. I will make doubley sure that I will carry on by supporting a fantastic charity, Mind.
The thing with mental illness is that you just don't know who it is affecting; it could be your best friend, a colleague, a family member or someone you meet at the rugby club but often you won't know they needed you until it is too late to help.
This is why a charity like Mind need as much support as they can get, so that they can reach out to people who can't, or won't, turn to you for help. That person may have 100 people in their phone who would turn up for them at a moments notice but they will be too proud, or too stubborn, or too afraid to make that call.
Any help that you can give me with fundraising, coming along to watch me crawl by in an event or even wash my lycra (which my wife would gladly let you store and never return!) would be most appreciated!
My first Triathlon is the Stratford-upon-Avon Sprint - 400m swim, 23km bike ride and a 5k run - on the 13th May.
Then it is on to the City of Birmingham Olympic Triathlon - 1.5km swim, 40km bike ride and a 10k run - on the 15th July.
Finally, if your sponsorship is flooding in, I will attempt the Warwickshire triathlon in September. If I raise a nice sum I might raffle the chance for one lucky sponsor to choose my attire for the final run! 100% of your sponsorship will go to Mind, I am covering the race entry fees and providing the excuses!
