Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
What I'm asking people to do is basically donate money to leukaemia and lymphoma research while I take on a personal challenge of cycling 100 miles through London and in to Surrey on the 2012 Olympic cycle route in a televised event but, this challenge is so much more personal than a new endurance challenge, this is all in memory of my cousin Christopher Hand.
Chris was sadly diagnosed with leukaemia in September 2006 which shocked just about everyone who knew him, no one more so than his loving parents, brother and sister who were by his side through every step of his journey. lovingly Chris was given the nick name TC (tough chris) as he battled on through his illness, never complaining and taking each day as it came. Sadly Chris lost his battle 3 days before his 21st birthday on the 12th November 2007.
He left behind many friends and family, all of which still care for him and share very fond memories of him, including his rebelious streak and wicked sense of humour.
The main reason behind this challenge is to raise money to help find a cure for this terrible illness and just as importantly to remember Chris!! Chris was a very active person who loved a challenge himself. He was a keen runner at a young age and had a natural talent when it came to playing football and knew his way around a snooker table.
Chris had his sights set on joining the marines when he finished college but, sadly that was not meant to be. Since Chris's death many a fond memory has been shared about him and his life bringing anything from a grin to floods of tears but, nearly all of them result in people having sore bellies from laughing so hard. Please, if you can donate, no matter the size of your donation, every single one will be hugely appreciated.
Feel free to leave any messages of rememberance in the comments box after donating. After all, Chris lives on through us x
Many thanks
Tom
