Hi!  I'm Toby Veale, 13 years old and living in Peterculter, Aberdeenshire with my mum, Sheila.Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

 

This is my 3rd JustGiving page.  My first is still running and hopefully will continue to do so.  Please take a moment to have a look at it.  It will give you a better understanding of why the Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research charity (LLR) is so important to me.

 

My second page was set up at this time last year to accept donations for a fundraising event taking place in Inverness - The Loch Ness Marathon. Unfortunately my age group is restricted to the 5k run so I am doing that with my best friend, Cameron Nixon, and his dad and borther, Matthew, and my good friend from pre-school days, Sophie Reid, and her family - and of course Mum.  For us all, it is not just a fundraising event.  It is a good time for our families to be together and remember my dad, Alan, who died very suddenly on 17th August 2009, just 6 days after being diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia.  I promised Dad that I would do as much as I possibly could to raise awareness of blood-related cancers and to help raise funds for medical research.  I would really like to see some progress with this during my lifetime.

 

It is so good that Soph and Cameron can come with me on this run as they were around Dad a lot and he really liked both of them, although he often teased them and played practical jokes!

 

I am well aware that there are so many needy causes out there and you cannot give to them all.  However, this is mine and if you think it's worth a small donation, I would be very grateful.

All 8 of us completed our 'task' today with some really good times.  We looked 'smart' in our bright yellow running tops bearing the logo 'Run To Beat Blood Cancers'.  Dad would be so proud of us all to think that good work can go on even after he's had to leave us.  Thanks to the Reids and Nixons for running with us and for all friends, family and colleagues who have made such generous donations once more.
