Story
Every year thousands of people enter the Scottish highlands to fulfill their favorite hobbies be it climbing, walking, mountain biking or skiing. Unfortunately every year 100s of people injure themselves in doing so, 100s more find themselves in difficult situations and require emergency assistance.
The Scottish Mountain Rescue is a charity based organization made up of over 1000 volunteers as well as 2 police teams and 2 RAF teams. They take it upon themselves to keep outdoor enthusiasts safe and, as the name suggests, rescue them in their time of need. Although the team is made up of volunteers, the equipment they require to respond to calls quickly and recover casualties safely is very specialized and it is here where most of the money is spent.
As part of Tiso's involvement in raising awareness and funds for the SMRT. Staff from
Tiso's Dundee store are going to be taking on the challenge put forward by Chris
Tiso himself. We will set off from Glen Clova and take in as many Munro's as we can from
dawn to dusk with the target in mind as being (at least) 7. The date is to be confirmed but will be some time this Autumn.
Please donate generously as this is an often overlooked asset to Scottish outdoors and a service often taken for granted. The men and women in the SMRT do a great job and it is a great oppertunity to support them.
Thank you.
